چکیده

—This paper demonstrates a model for Black Box CPU which is a part of Advanced Network Architecture (ANA) PC. The Black Box does not require any electronic or electrical devices; it uses optical devices for processing and storing of data. ANA is used for advanced networking operations. The Black Box is the part of the ANA PC, which serves as a generic CPU with fast processing and huge storage of data. The basic differences between the generic CPU and Black Box CPU are the storage procedures, I/O devices; devices used processing data and the mobility of the box. The basic principle behind the Black Box is to minimize (mostly eliminate) electronic devices used by the CPU for processing & accessing of data with effective storage mechanism, " Data will be in the form of light throughout the network and through out the system. Replace all electrical and electronic devices with optical devices. A Black Box containing all optical devices, used for storing huge amount of data and fast retrieval of data from the Box in the form of light, when connected to any other devices or systems. "

Overcoming the Curse of Dimensionality ?

We study the behavior of pivot-based algorithms for similarity searching in metric spaces. We show that they are eeective tools for intrinsically high-dimensional spaces, and that their performance is basically dependent on the number of pivots used and the precision used to store the distances. In this paper we give a simple yet eeective recipe for practitioners seeking for a black-box method ...

Black Box Optimization via a Bayesian-Optimized Genetic Algorithm

We present a simple and robust optimization algorithm, related to genetic algorithms and with analogies to the popular CMA–ES search algorithm, that serves as a cheap alternative to Bayesian Optimization. The algorithm is robust against both monotonic transforms of the objective function value and affine transformations of the feasible region. It is fast and easy to implement, and has performan...

Sparse Approximate Inverse Preconditioners for Iterative Solvers on GPUs

For the solution of large systems of linear equations, iterative solvers with preconditioners are typically employed. However, the design of preconditioners for the black-box case, in which no additional information about the underlying problem is known, is very difficult. The most commonly employed method of incomplete LU factorizations is a serial algorithm and thus not well suited for the ma...

Dynamic Model Reduction of Large Power Systems Based On Coherency Aggregation Techniques and Black-Box Optimization

This paper presents the dynamic model reduction methodology developed by Ontario IESO (Independent Electricity System Operator) to obtain reduced-order dynamic network equivalents for large interconnected power systems. This methodology is based on electrical-proximity progressive reduction and utilizes: (i) coherency aggregation techniques, (ii) static network reduction, and (iii) black-box no...

Dynamic Provisioning of Storage Workloads

Due to lack of generic, accurate, dynamic and comprehensive models for performance estimation, customers typically tend to underprovision or over-provision storage systems today. With multi-tenancy, virtualization, scale and unified storage becoming norms in the industry, it is highly desirable to strike an optimum balance between utilization and performance. However, performance prediction for...
